Welcome to UltiMat! UltiMat, Ultuna's Food Cooperative, is a not-for-profit association at Ultuna Student Union in Uppsala.
We are a forum that works for sustainable food consumption and production in different ways.
Together we order and distribute environmentally friendly food, without middlemen, from farmers in and close to Uppsala. We are also a forum for discussions and activities focusing on sustainable food.
We arrange field trips to our producers, organize food workshops and markets. As it’s a cooperative, the association is purely run by its members.
A student association under Ultuna Student Union
UltiMat is run by its members, and a board maintains the continuity of the association and the compliance with its statutes. Every Tuesday at 12:15 UltiMat has lunch meetings at Ultuna Student Union or online, and anyone interested is welcome to join.

The board consists of six main roles: a chair, vice-chair, treasurer, communication coordinator, delivery coordinator, and producer coordinator. You believe in local food production? Join us! Board positions are open, a great addition to your CV. You can also join as an active member to help us run without commiting too much!
Producers
Our producers are chosen by these three guidelines.1. Locally produced - The food should be produced as close to the members of Ultimat as possible. If a certain product can only be producef in a special climate zone, longer distances might be accepted. Ultimat only distributes products that are primarily produced within the borders of Sweden, due to environmental and social reasons. We want to know the origin of the products we offer, ensure low carbon dioxide emissions products with little transportation, and support the Swedish agriculture.
2. Environment care and animal welfare - We strive for food production which consists of fewer toxins, greater biological diversity and good animal welfare.
3. No middlemen - We want to create a closer contact between farmers and our members.
Membership
Are you interested in local food production?Become a member to order food from us, and participate in workshops and study visits for free! If you want to be involved in the decision process and the management of the organisation, you can also join the board. The membership costs 70sek a term.
